Package Itinerary

Day 1 — Bagdogra / NJP to Gangtok | Arrival in the Hills
Arrive at Bagdogra Airport (IXB) or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP), where you will be picked up and transferred to Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. The drive gradually leaves the plains behind and begins to wind through the hills, making the journey itself a scenic introduction to the North East.
On arrival in Gangtok, check in to your hotel or resort and take some time to relax after the road journey. The rest of the day is kept light so you can settle in comfortably and enjoy the change of pace.
In the evening, you can step out and spend time at MG Marg, Gangtok’s lively pedestrian street lined with cafés, shops and local eateries. It’s one of the best places to soak in the city’s atmosphere, enjoy the cool mountain air and get your first feel of Gangtok’s easygoing charm.
Return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Gangtok.
Day 2 — Gangtok Sightseeing | Lakes, Temples & Cultural Landmarks
After breakfast, set out for a full day of sightseeing in and around Gangtok, beginning with one of the region’s most iconic attractions, Tsomgo Lake (subject to permit). Surrounded by mountains and changing colours with the seasons, this high-altitude glacial lake is one of the highlights of a Sikkim trip.
Continue towards Baba Mandir, a revered shrine associated with local military folklore and deep emotional significance in the region. The drive itself offers beautiful mountain views and a sense of the dramatic Himalayan terrain around Gangtok.
After returning towards the city, visit the Flower Exhibition Centre, a colourful stop where seasonal blooms and regional plant varieties add a softer, more local side to the day’s sightseeing.
You will also explore the Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom, where you can get a closer look at Sikkim’s traditional crafts, weaving styles and local artistry.
Later, visit Do Drul Chorten Stupa, one of Gangtok’s important Buddhist landmarks, known for its peaceful setting, prayer wheels and spiritual atmosphere.
After a full day of sightseeing, return to the hotel and relax.
Overnight stay in Gangtok.
Day 3 — Gangtok | Leisure Day or Optional Excursions
Begin the day with breakfast at the hotel and enjoy a slower, more flexible day in Gangtok. This day is ideal for travellers who want a little breathing space between the sightseeing-heavy portions of the trip.
You can choose to spend the day at leisure, simply soaking in the mountain atmosphere, walking around town, revisiting MG Marg, trying local cafés or enjoying the comfort of the hotel with the hills around you.
If you’d like to make the most of the day, you can also opt for additional sightseeing such as a visit to Nathula Pass (optional and subject to permit), one of the most famous high-altitude mountain passes in the region.
Alternatively, you can explore some of Gangtok’s nearby monasteries, viewpoints and quieter corners, which offer a more relaxed glimpse into the city’s cultural and spiritual side.
Return to the hotel after a peaceful day at your own pace.
Overnight stay in Gangtok.
Day 4 — Gangtok to Darjeeling | Transfer to the Queen of Hills
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and begin your drive to Darjeeling, a journey of roughly 4–5 hours through scenic mountain roads, tea-growing landscapes and charming hillside settlements.
Known as the Queen of Hills, Darjeeling has a very different mood from Gangtok — more old-world, more tea-scented and deeply tied to its colonial-era mountain charm.
On arrival, check in to the hotel and take some time to unwind after the transfer.
In the evening, if you feel like stepping out, you can head to Mall Road and spend some time walking through one of Darjeeling’s most loved public spaces. The cool air, local shops and mountain-town pace make it a lovely introduction to the city.
Return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Darjeeling.
Day 5 — Darjeeling Sightseeing | Sunrise, Monasteries & Tea Country
Start the day early with a visit to Tiger Hill, one of Darjeeling’s most famous viewpoints, to witness a spectacular sunrise over Kanchenjunga. On a clear morning, the changing colours over the snow-covered peaks make this one of the most memorable experiences of the trip.
After breakfast, continue with local sightseeing beginning with Ghoom Monastery, a peaceful Buddhist monastery known for its spiritual atmosphere and hilltop setting.
Next, visit the iconic Batasia Loop, where the toy train track curves dramatically against a backdrop of mountain views and beautifully maintained gardens.
The day also includes a visit to the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, a landmark institution that celebrates the mountaineering history of the Himalayas and honours legendary climbers.
Nearby, explore the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, known for its conservation efforts and for housing Himalayan species in a mountain setting.
You will also visit Darjeeling’s famous Tea Gardens, where the rolling slopes, neat rows of tea bushes and misty landscape come together to create the classic postcard image of the hill station.
Return to the hotel after sightseeing and relax.
Overnight stay in Darjeeling.
Day 6 — Darjeeling | Leisure, Markets & Optional Experiences
After breakfast, enjoy another relaxed day in Darjeeling, allowing you to experience the town beyond the standard sightseeing circuit.
You can spend the day at leisure exploring local markets, browsing souvenir shops, trying out hill-town cafés or simply walking through Darjeeling’s charming lanes and viewpoints at your own pace.
If you’d like to add something special to the day, you may opt for a Toy Train joy ride (optional), one of Darjeeling’s most classic experiences and a lovely way to enjoy the town’s old-world character.
This is also a good day to revisit Mall Road, sip tea with a view, or just enjoy a quieter side of Darjeeling without a packed sightseeing schedule.
Return to the hotel for your final overnight stay in Darjeeling.
Day 7 — Departure | Darjeeling to Bagdogra / NJP
As you leave the hills behind, carry back a lovely mix of memories from Gangtok’s monasteries and mountain lakes to Darjeeling’s tea gardens, sunrise viewpoints and colonial hill-town charm.
Your North East holiday comes to an end with a scenic drive back and a trip full of peaceful landscapes, fresh mountain air and memorable Himalayan experiences.
