An ideal traveller needs an immediate northeast break without excessive hurry into too much; hence, this short Gangtok getaway is good. This trip combines the laid-back charm of Gangtok with some of Sikkim's most beautiful and spiritual sites over four days. Drive into the capital through winding mountain roads, spend a day by Tsomgo Lake (yes, it really does look like that), visit Baba Mandir, a venerated site of fidelity to bereft soldiers who died in battle, and potentially continue all the way up to Nathula Pass if your travel permits allow. The remaining journey comprises gentle attractions like witnessing the monasteries, viewpoints, gardens and several other cultural landmarks of Gangtok. It's an itinerary offering you a little of all that: highland views, local culture, peaceful temple breaks and just enough time off for some proper hill appreciation.

Package Itinerary

Day 1 — Bagdogra / NJP – Gangtok

Arrive at Bagdogra Airport (IXB) or NJP Railway Station, where you will be received and assisted for your onwards transfer to Gangtok.
Begin your scenic drive to Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, located at an altitude of around 5,500 ft.
The journey takes you through winding mountain roads, riverside stretches, and beautiful hill views, setting the tone for your Northeast escape.
On arrival in Gangtok, check in to the hotel and settle in.
The rest of the evening is free for relaxation after the long drive.
You may choose to unwind at the hotel or simply soak in Gangtok’s cool weather and peaceful hill-town atmosphere.
Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Day 2 — Gangtok – Tsomgo Lake Excursion

After breakfast, head out for a full-day excursion to the beautiful Tsomgo Lake, one of Sikkim’s most famous high-altitude attractions.
Located at around 12,400 ft, Tsomgo Lake is a glacial lake known for its changing colours, mountain backdrop, and serene setting.
Spend time admiring the lake, breathing in the crisp mountain air, and taking in the surrounding snow-clad and rocky landscapes.
Continue further to Baba Mandir, a revered shrine dedicated to Baba Harbhajan Singh, an Indian Army soldier deeply respected by locals and travelers alike.
Spend some time at Baba Mandir, known both for its spiritual significance and its unique place in local legend.
After sightseeing, drive back to Gangtok.
Optional: You may also choose to visit Nathula Pass on a direct payment basis, subject to permit availability and operational conditions. Please note that Nathula Pass remains closed on Monday and Tuesday, and permits are not guaranteed.
Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Day 3 — Gangtok City Tour

After breakfast, proceed for a full-day sightseeing tour of Gangtok covering some of the city’s most popular viewpoints, monasteries, and cultural attractions.
Visit Tashi View Point, a scenic spot known for its sweeping views of the surrounding hills and, on clear days, distant Himalayan peaks.
Stop at Ganesh Tok, a small temple viewpoint that offers panoramic views of Gangtok and its green surroundings.
Continue to Hanuman Tok, another well-known temple site set amidst peaceful surroundings with beautiful views over the region.
Visit the colourful Flower Show, where you can see a variety of seasonal flowers and local flora.
Explore the Cottage Industry and Handicraft Centre, known for showcasing traditional Sikkimese handicrafts, handloom items, and local craftsmanship.
Head to the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, an important cultural and research centre dedicated to Tibetan Buddhist studies and heritage.
Visit Dro-dul Chorten, one of Gangtok’s most significant Buddhist stupas and a peaceful spiritual landmark in the city.
Continue to Enchey Monastery, a serene monastery known for its religious significance and beautiful setting.
End the sightseeing with a visit to Banjakhri Falls, a scenic waterfall park surrounded by landscaped gardens and local folklore-inspired installations.
Return to the hotel after the tour.

Day 4 — Gangtok – Bagdogra / NJP Departure

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and prepare for your return journey.
Proceed for your transfer to NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport (IXB).
Drive back with beautiful memories of Gangtok’s mountain views, sacred sites, monasteries, and high-altitude lakes.
